The Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat was established in 1958 and is the largest mining company in Uzbekistan. It is responsible for extracting, processing, and exporting a wide range of minerals, including uranium, gold, copper, and silver. The company's uranium production has been increasing steadily over the years, and in 2019, it produced over 3,000 tons of uranium, making it one of the top producers in the world.


The Uzbekistan government has been actively promoting its uranium mining sector, and as a result, there has been significant investment in the industry over the years. In recent years, the government has been working to attract more foreign investment to the sector, which has led to partnerships with several international companies, including Russian and Chinese firms.

The country has already signed several agreements with countries such as China, Russia, and South Korea to supply uranium for their nuclear power plants.
