National
Best Friends Day :
Today’s the day to enjoy a little one-on-one time with
the people who never fail to catch us when we fall. If you want to buy a
friend something special to mark the occasion Whether they’re near or far
old or new.. best friends help to carry us through our
lives.
This June 8, National Best Friends Day, it’s time to
tell them how much we appreciate their company. As the Mayo Clinic reports:
“Friends help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness, job
loss, or the death of a loved one. They also encourage you to change or avoid
unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as excessive drinking or lack of exercise.
We have our own country to thank for this lighthearted holiday. In 1935, the U.S. Congress gathered to devote a day each year in tribute to close friends. They chose June 8, which is usually a balmy day in all regions of the country—perfect for outdoor activities. Since then, many other countries have adopted the practice. Some even throw festivals to celebrate their chosen family.
This holiday has given rise to a handful of other
friendship-themed days for celebration, including Friendship Day, Women’s
Friendship Day, and even an entire week called Old Friends, New Friends Week.
Ironically, almost all celebrations of friendship occur in the summer.
While the holiday seems to have lost popularity through
the years, it has seen a recent upsurge in engagement since the advent of social media.
Now, on June 8 every year, people rush to post fun photographs of themselves
with their most trusted friends. The recognizable hashtag #nationa lbest
friends day allows users to witness just how many Instagram, Facebook, and
Twitter users are celebrating along with them.

best friends have the same traditions; it is unique to
everyone. The shenanigans that best friends get up to are enjoyed and shared
only between them, which include memorable adventures, fun gatherings, and even
inside jokes. These traditions are relived on National Best Friends Day.
Inevitably, our relatives’ expectations and judgment will wear us thin. Luckily, best friends are
always there to lighten the mood. Since we get to choose who our best friends
are, they’re usually compatible with our personalities and interests. They
understand us, respect us and, best of all, they know when to give us space
Naturally, many of our
best friends have something important in common with us. Whether they’re
navigating the same life stages, working in the same career field, or avidly
interested in the same hobby, best friends simply understand us better than
anyone else
When it’s time to let
loose, best friends are always up for an adventure. They’re the ones we travel
with, dance with, and relax with. Like human spa days, our best friends always
know how to bring us.
World
Oceans Day :
The Ocean Project has
coordinated the June 8 World Oceans Day for the past 17 years. It’s a crucial
environmental issue. We get both foods and medicines from the deep blue, and it
helps to keep the climate in check. the majority of oxygen we breathe comes
from the ocean.
We
always felt that the waves breathed some life into us. (Alright, once or twice
it was the lifeguard, but that doesn’t diminish the worth of one our most
valuable resources.) However, if we don’t take the steps to conserve it, we’ll
lose a lot more than a spot for a weekend getaway. So dive in and do your part
to keep big blue going strong.
But if you'd rather someone else take the
reigns, it will point you to some festivities in your vicinity. Also, you'll
have the chance to pledge to the planet.

One of the best ways to celebrate our
beautiful ocean is, to visit . However, keep sustainability top of mind.
Getting your barbecue on.. Go to the
store to get supplies with a reusable tote bag instead of a plastic one.
Probably not the best idea to tell the same
facts to the person who taught you, but repetition does drive the point home.
Whatever you choose to, have fun and stay blue!
For many people, the beach spells fun in
the sun. While taking a dip feels great, we sometimes don't think about what
that water really means to us. It's essential to the biosphere and we want to
make sure that future generations get to enjoy it. Chances are, the creatures
that live there will also appreciate it (there are over 1 million of them!).
And when you look out into the distance and see ships going to who knows where,
it's a strong reminder that we're all connected.

So much of our waste isn't biodegradable,
and the ocean is left cleaning up our mess. Dumping recyclables into the proper
bin is a good first step, but we have to carry that habit back home. Even if
you don't live near the coast, let your friends and family know how recycling
puts a big smile on the ocean's face
We never need an excuse to go to the beach, but we'll gladly take one. At times, we just have to pinch ourselves at how gorgeous the place can be; a sunset reflected on the water is like something out of a painting. Most importantly, the ocean gives us the perfect opportunity to empty our heads and relax. Some moments speak for themselves so we don't have to. It's not like the squawking seagulls would let us get a word in anyway.
World
Brain Tumor Day:
World Brain Tumor Day is observed on June 8 every year
to raise awareness and educate people about brain tumors. In 2000, it was first
observed by a Leipzig-based non-profit organization, the German Brain Tumor
Association.
A brain tumor occurs when the cells inside the brain
start growing at an abnormal speed which forms a mass of abnormal cells in the
brain. The enclosed space inside the skull is limited, and when these abnormal
cells start closing in the space, the symptoms are observed.
There is no description of a brain tumor in the ancient medical texts, but there is recurring mention of skull trepanation (surgically intervened burr hole into the human skull) to relieve the symptoms of a brain tumor. Thinkers like Socrates..Celsus…Galen...and Hippocrates.. mention instructions in their treatises regarding trepanation to alleviate intracranial pressure while they do not mention brain tumors in their works. In antiquity, brain tumors resulted in death after a long battle with symptoms such as headaches..seizures..and coma.

After the discovery of X-rays in 1895, many
neurosurgeons started to localize and diagnose brain tumors. A German
neurosurgeon named Fedor Krause used x-rays to localize brain tumors.
Later in 1954, for the first time noninvasive method to localize brain tumors
was introduced by using a nuclear scanner. It was a few decades later that Sir
Godfrey N. Hounsfield created the first C.T. scanner. In 1971, C.T. scanners
were installed in London, England, and then in the United States. In 1975,
full-body C.T. scanners were introduced.
In 1971, Raymond V Damadian ..reported that nuclear magnetic resonance also called M R I ..can distinguish normal from Tumoral tissues.. In 1973, Paul C. Lauterbur produced the first images of mice using M.R. Image and in a few years, the first human for “M R I ” IMAGES .were reported. Paul C. Lauterbur won the Nobel Prize in 2003 for his discovery.
Wear a gray ribbon to raise awareness about brain
tumors. Hold an interactive seminar with people in the locality to raise
awareness and explain the early signs Research about N.G.O’s who work for
the cause of brain tumors. Spend time, energy, and money as much as possible
and work towards a great cause.
On World Tumor Day, the community comes together to support people fighting a brain tumor in any way they can. It creates a positive and supportive environment for patients. People volunteer and hold various events on World Brain Tumor Day which includes various fundraisers. This becomes the perfect day to help patients in any way possible.
International Day of Action for Elephants :
The International Day of Action for Elephants in Zoos,
held on June 8 every year, is a worldwide event aimed at raising awareness
about the condition of elephants in zoos and, ideally, sending elephants in
zoos to authorized sanctuaries.
.During its first year, dedicated activists in 33
cities across seven countries held outreach events and demonstrations,
attracting attention from the media and educating the public about the tragic
consequences of keeping elephants in tiny, unnatural zoo enclosures where
they’ve been suffering and dying prematurely.
Elliot M. Katz, a veterinarian, served as President of the In Defense Of Animals (I.D.A.) organization from its inception in 1983 until he died in 2021. Katz attended Cornell University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with honors in 1989. He became involved in animal rights issues after activists approached him for assistance in putting an end to animal experimentation at the University of California, Berkeley’s allegedly overpopulated and unsanitary laboratories. As a result, Katz assisted in the formation of Californians for Responsible Research, which advocated for the campus to provide better care for the animals used in research.
I.D.A. believes that elephants die prematurely in zoos
and that “urban zoos simply do not have adequate space for these majestic,
intelligent animals.” The animal rights organization PETA has backed I.D.A.’s
fight against elephants in zoos. I.D.A. releases a list of the ‘ten worst zoos
for elephants’ regularly. It claimed in 2004 that it persuaded the San
Francisco Zoo to relocate its elephants to a sanctuary. The zoo, on the other
hand, maintained that I.D.A. had nothing to do with the elephants’ relocation.
As part of a larger campaign, I.D.A. has accused the
National Zoo in Washington, D.C., and other zoos of violating the Animal
Welfare Act. According to I.D.A., the United States Department of Agriculture
has acknowledged “the severity of concern surrounding the poor environments for
elephants in our nation’s zoos.” In response to I.D.A., Woodland Park Zoo
argued that “the limiting space argument is oversimplified and… that elephants
in zoos receive the greatest care available.”
The African elephant is indeed the world's largest land mammal — with males growing up to 9.8 feet tall and weighing up to six tonnes on average. African elephant ears are much larger than Asian elephant ears and are characterized as being shaped much like the African continent, whereas Asian elephant ears are shaped much like the Indian subcontinent.
Elephant tusks are enlarged incisor teeth that appear
in elephants around the age of two and continue to develop throughout their
lives. The skin of an elephant can be as thick as an inch. Elephants
communicate through various means, including trumpet calls, body language,
touch, and scent.

Raising awareness about elephants living in captivity
is key. Sign an existing petition to ask your local authority to participate by
introducing legislation to end elephant imprisonment. You can start your
petition if none exist.
